Beards for Bees

Pollinators are one of the most important parts of any of our world’s
ecosystems. Without them many plants will not be able to reproduce,
meaning all parts of the food chain would suffer, including we humans.

Without pollinators life as we know it could not exist and now our pollinators are under threat. Urbanisation, pollution, climate change and bee killing pesticides (which are banned under EU law, with some countries now being given permission to use again) are all taking their toll on the global bee population. We have to do something to reverse this decline before it is too late, and that is why PaganAid’s latest campaign is focused on saving the bees.

Our latest campaign will be raising money for Bees for Development, who help some of the world’s poorest people to build resilient livelihoods through beekeeping.
We have picked this cause as their charitable aims match ours perfectly; helping people out of poverty in a way that also helps the planet.

As with all our campaigns you can donate via the link here, but this is not the only way we will be fundraising.

We will also be running a sponsored beard growing event, #beards4bees where you can collect sponsorship whilst growing the longest beard you can! If you cannot grow a beard, fear not. You can grow anything else you like, for example you could plant a tree, some bee friendly flowers or even keep the flowering weeds in your garden alive and measure those!

You can also now use ziffit to sell your unwanted books, CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays and games, and donate their value to PaganAid!

With charity shops closed and many of us staying at home, now is the time to get clearing out those cupboards and start raising funds. Just click the link to get started.

You can also buy our brand new Baz the Bee Bookmarks from our shop…..
Baz is a helpful Bee, he’ll help you find your place in your favourite book with his handy bookmark and then when you’re finished reading you can plant it to grow plants that will help feed him and his family!

As part of this campaign we will also be spreading awareness of the plight of pollinators across the globe, how important they are to our ecosystems, and what we can do to help the bees in our day to day lives.

We will be helped in this by our brand new mascot, Baz the Bee!

As well as helping with our education effort, Baz will also be attempting to grow a beard, and you will be able to sponsor him via his very own sponsorship page on Virgin Money Giving.

Click on his image here to follow his beard!

The idea of this campaign is to start a real buzz. Lets start talking about pollinators as well as raising money to boost their numbers and help people out of poverty. We have always needed the bees, but now the bees need us.

Blessed Bee
